I’m Temuulen, a PhD student at University of Melbourne, co-supervised by Charles and Kat. I’m interested in words – how their meanings vary across languages and what general principles can explain those variations. I use computational methods and information-theoretic approach on naturalistic data such as dictionaries and corpora to address these questions.

In my previous life, I completed a BBA in financial management and was a business analyst at an investment fund. I then pursued a MA in linguistics at National University of Mongolia, and studied polysemy patterns and lexical gaps across hundreds of languages.

I’m a serious meditator of vipassana and learning Pali, an ancient Indian language. I try to write and translate poetry as another means to explore words. I also love arthouse films, especially those from the East.
