Hi, I’m Jules, a PhD student and researcher in computational linguistics & cognitive science at the University of Melbourne and the University of Toronto, under the joint supervision of Dr. Frank Mollica and Prof. Barend Beekhuizen. I’m interested in the cultural evolution and cognition of language. I’m researching how languages structure categories, how they came to develop these systems and why certain systems are more prevalent than others. I’m currently working on a corpus-based project investigating how narrativity shapes lexical fields.

I have a BSc in Computer Science and a BA in Literature from the Sorbonne University. I then completed a MSc in Cognitive Science at The University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Dr. Frank Mollica.

Outside of my academic work, I’m really interested in literature, nature and architecture. I love hiking, makings things ferment and learning about the infrastructure and logistics that underlie the systems in which we live.
